I bring more than five decades of entrepreneurial and creative experience to my work as an architectural and landscape photographer. Based in Columbus, Ohio, I have mainly photographed throughout the US and in Canada. Over the course of my career, I have founded and led photographic and digital print companies in Columbus while producing imagery for architects, publications, interior designers, real estate developers, and a wide range of industry clients. My work reflects technical mastery, an eye for great design, and a deep appreciation for the built environment.
My path began in the early 1970s while attending The Ohio State University, where I initially pursued a degree in architecture. After three years, I shifted my focus to architectural photography—an evolution that allowed me to merge artistic expression with my enduring interest in design and structure. With a particular passion for historic architecture, I found inspiration not only in entire historic or modern buildings, but in the wonderful details that define them.
Throughout my assignments, I developed a distinctive approach: observing and capturing the often-overlooked elements that give a structure its character. From intricate mosaics and stained glass to weathered textures, carved cornices, and expressive brickwork, I began transforming these details into compelling visual studies. This perspective continues to shape my work, blending documentation with artistry.
A central focus of my photography is the adaptive reuse of historic buildings and the integration of new construction within historic districts. I am especially drawn to projects that breathe new life into existing structures—whether converting industrial spaces into residences, re-imagining factories as offices, or revitalizing aging buildings. My imagery not only documents these transformations but also enhances them, adding depth, narrative, and visual value.
Beyond architecture, I explore a wide range of photographic subjects, including landscapes, automobiles, trains, aircraft, and the natural world—from flowers and plant life to snow, ice, and abstract compositions I describe as “far out.” On the Bruce Peninsula in Canada, I am also continually inspired by the striking landscapes and historic architecture, where I capture the quiet beauty and rugged character of the environment.
Now in semi-retirement, I remain actively engaged in photography, focusing on personal work and select projects while enjoying more time with my family. My work continues to reflect a lifelong dedication to craft, curiosity, and the art of seeing.
