Planning
After engagement, the planning process begins by collaborating with the project team comprised of the architects, designers, and developers to establish their photo image needs for the final reproductions. Also, the team and I will review their architectural plans, FFE design decks, and photographic needs. Then, complete a site visit with the team to review and get their inspiration for imagery. With my architectural and photographic education at Ohio State University, I can efficiently understand the requested photographic scope from architectural and design team plans’ intents.
Note that if the project involves a historic building or a new building in a historic district, photography engagement prior to any interior demolition of the historic building is extremely important so that the beautiful, aged imagery details and artifacts can be captured. This holds true even if the design concept decks have not been fully developed. For historic buildings and/or new buildings in a historic district, I walk 4 city blocks around the building’s location to then photograph landmarks and other architectural details of buildings within those 4 city blocks.
Photography
My primary camera is a Nikon Z8 with a very high-resolution imager at 45.7 MP, along with multiple Nikkor lenses. Because of the Nikon Z8’s large image size, the raw camera files are very versatile for detail-oriented photos to achieve photography for usage on any project, at any size.
Drone high-resolution photography is available by me partnering with a professional drone team that I have previously used. The drone team’s owner is a FAA licensed drone pilot along with his team of 2 others. I am at the drone photoshoot managing all requested drone imagery.
Image Licensing
Complete image licensing in perpetuity is included for all final images with the image license usually assigned to the developer / client. The licensed images are for all artistic, marketing, and documentation usages. Photographer retains all copyrights.
Photo Selects
Using web-based slideshows, with zoom-in options, of final photo selects allows the project team to easily choose their favorite photos. Once the final selects are made, a set of low-resolution jpgs are uploaded to the designers. The designers can then place the low-resolution jpgs into the design deck for final approval.
Post Processing
Raw image files post-processing of all the photo selects is done at high-resolution, including color management, image enhancements, and minor retouching, if needed. Additional post processing items are available by request.
Final Print Management
As part of my complete services package, I will manage the final print production to achieve the highest quality artful reproductions using any print company. Because of my previous graphic companies’ 50 years of high-quality reproduction experience, I fully understand color, resolution, and the many other items required for successful, high quality print reproductions.
